Every animal on this page has a story — and right now, that story depends on you. These are shelter animals across Santa Barbara County facing injury, illness, abuse, or neglect, each one needing emergency medical care, surgery, or specialized treatment to get a second chance at a healthy, loving home.
The Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation is an all-volunteer nonprofit working hand-in-hand with Santa Barbara County Animal Services to fund the emergency medical care that county shelters can't always afford on their own — everything from lifesaving surgery to heartworm treatment to critical diagnostics. Since 2002, our mission has been to transform Santa Barbara County into a place where every adoptable and treatable animal gets that chance.
Below, meet some of the animals currently in our care. Each has a unique story and a specific need — and your donation, in any amount, goes directly toward their treatment and recovery. Choose a case that speaks to you, or give toward the general fund to help however it's needed most.

Cinderella
CINDERELLA'S FRESH START — HELP THIS SWEET GIRL HEAL
Meet Cinderella — a 5-year-old, 45-lb brindle Pit Bull mix with a heart of gold, a weakness for treats, and a signature strut with her favorite stuffy tucked under her chin. She's also a Camp HOPE dog, which says everything about the resilience and love this girl carries.
Cinderella has been battling chronic skin issues that have kept her from feeling — and looking — like herself. She's ready for her fresh start, and we need our community's help to get her there.
What she needs:
Medical Care — dermatology consult & diagnostics in Santa Barbara, initial treatment, and up to 6 months of specialized food/medication.
Transportation — volunteer drivers (+gas stipends) for her Santa Barbara vet visits.
Medical Foster — a home to follow her treatment plan and monitor her progress.
Promotion — help us share her story, not just her diagnosis!
Goal: $5,000 in community medical sponsorship, plus people-power for transport, fostering, and promotion.
This is about more than healing her skin — it's about giving a dog who's had a tough road the chance to feel good, be loved, and find her happily-ever-after home.
