The
Santa Maria Animal Center
| The Vision has become Reality. The Santa Maria Animal Center became operational in June. The staff, volunteers, and animals are ecstatic to be relocated to the new purpose-built facility. The new Center will aggressively promote the No-Kill goal for adoptable and rehabilitatable animals and position the three Santa Barbara county shelters to reach that goal within five years. The welcoming atmosphere, ample volunteer space, grooming salon, Education Center, spay and neuter clinic, and the Wendy McCaw "Animal House" Adoption Center are just a few of the vital components of this extraordinary facility. |

| We are looking
forward to expanded community involvement at the new shelter. The Education
Center is a great venue for workshops, training, meetings, and tours for
community groups. New volunteers are being recruited and the Foundation had
hired a part-time outreach coordinator, Barbara Burgess, to further the
process. If you are interested in volunteering, contact Barbara at
934-6981 or visit the Santa Maria Animal Center and pick up an application. The new facility is a wonderful example of what can be achieved through collaboration. The Santa Barbara County Animal Care Foundation, Inc. is proud to have participated in this tremendous project and looks forward to greater promotion of animal welfare in our community. |
