The Sebastian Medical Fund

Every year, a variety of adoptable animals enter the doors of our county shelters with injuries or other medical needs. Due to medical costs, all of the innocent victims cannot be saved. The Sebastian Fund was established in the spring of 2003 to help save the lives of these deserving creatures.

Sebastian is an actual living, breathing legacy. This sweet black cat came to the Santa Maria Shelter needing prompt medical treatment for a broken leg. With the assistance of Dr. Bertram of the Solvang Veterinary Clinic and dedicated volunteers, Sebastian is doing well and is honored to dedicate his name to our Foundations’ Medical Treatment Fund.

Since the Sebastian fund was first established we have been able to assist Hundreds of animals in need in Santa Barbara County and the number continues to grow. Many of the injuries and treatments have been heartbreaking, but through assistance from the Foundation a positive outcome was achieved. In addition, the SBCACF is committed to promoting humane education in our community and has provided vital assistance to facilitate the building of the new Santa Maria Animal Center.

After dental extraction surgery "Howie" can now eat normally and has found a new home and a new chance at life.

"Maisey", a puppy with a deformed front leg received surgical intervention. She will grow to be a normal, happy dog.

"Cuddles" a rescue from the Lompoc Shelter received neutering. He is now ready to be cuddled by a new family..
